After seeing the swing bin racer on Pistonheads I decided my 4 year old son just had to have one of his own. Daddy would probably enjoy it too... The plans are available from lightning cars & cost £15. For this you get full size plans, a shopping list, order form (should you wish to buy the parts from lightning) and a build manual on CD in PDF format.
The basic design is pretty good but I decided I'd like to change the steering design, add a proper brake and enable a reverse gear. The manual has lots of useful tips, such as glueing the plans to the wood as a guide for cutting. First step is to cut out the floor and side paper plans and stick them to your MDF, then simply cut around the outlines. Then, following the instructions, cut the square wood (I used 21mm) then glue & screw the floor & side sections together. Also cut out the dashboard and rear seat section
